In honor of #EarthDay, we would like to share how Renesas is contributing to waste reduction and environmental protection. With a goal to maintain the waste recycling rate at 90% or more globally each year, we diligently implement 3Rs – Reuse, Reduce, and Recycle – during the manufacturing process and reuse the waste generated derived from our business activities as resources. At our global production sites, we ensure plastic packaging materials, such as trays and magazines, are efficiently reused. Carrier tape, cardboard and wafer cases are also being reused for other applications. In Japan, we have taken proactive measures in response to the new Plastic Resource Circulation Act (e.g., Increased BGA package size to reduce plastic waste, reusing bags produced during manufacturing process for cleaning instead of buying new garbage bags). We shared a sneak preview of our upcoming all-in-one environmental sensor solution at embedded world Exhibition&Conference 2024! Dr. Christian Meyer, Senior Manager of Product Engineering, Analog & Connectivity at Renesas, shared how this solution integrates environmental sensors and a microcontroller to enable intelligent monitoring and control of multiple sensor parameters to ensure air quality in various environments. This new solution incorporates sensors for detecting particulate matter to monitor pollution (PM2.5), assess indoor air quality (IAQ), measure temperature and humidity (RHT), and CO2 levels. It offers high-quality digital output and integrates an MCU for efficient onboard sensor management. 📢 Stay cool with our new RZ/V2H MPU – no cooling fan or heat dissipator required! This new, powerful device targets high-performance robotics applications, enabling both vision AI and real-time control capabilities. Last week at embedded world Exhibition&Conference, Johannes Brücker, Principal Business Development Engineer at Renesas, shared how the RZ/V2H can run on 4 different AI models for person recognition by using a USB camera connected to the device, identifying the people who passed our booth. After much anticipation, we’re excited to share that our Kofu Factory has officially opened its doors to increase production capacity of power semiconductors in anticipation of growing demand for EVs! The Kofu Factory is located in Kai City, Yamanashi Prefecture, Japan with a dedicated 300-mm wafer fabrication line for power semiconductors. We held a special ceremony to celebrate the factory opening and invited local government leaders and business partners including construction companies, equipment vendors, outsourcing and other partner companies.
